My first six weeks in SEO
When i entered the world of SEO i was told this was to be a ’steep learning curve’, and at times it has been, but other times its general common sense dictating what to do.
To avoid working in retail all my life i went back to college in June and did Internet marketing, and got employment with a SEO company this february. Whoever said ‘college prepares you for nothing’ was right, it certainly isnt as easy as it was made out to be, but i dont think its as complicated as people make out. I started out working on AMA articles, which holds appeal to me, because they can be interesting even on the most boring subject -its just finding an angle about a subject that makes it interesting and taking that approach with it. I seem to be turning out the articles at a good pace, and the content isnt too bad either. Ama takes alittle while to see some results, but they do come through and deliver the results.
But AMA is but one piece of the puzzle- one weapon in the armory. There is also blogg commenting -or ‘do follow’ linking. Having something decent to say on the subject is key on this for me -no point in just posting for the sake of it.
Linkbait is also a solid method- but what qualifies as good linkbait? To get your linkbait to go ‘viral’ requires us to think outside the box- conventional ideas arent going to cut it here. Games, music, jokes or something completely random and funny that will get peoples attention will work.
So what have the difficulties been? The ‘jargon’ mostly- alot of technical terms that are thrown out there that it feels is there to confuse us. Constantly refining the keywrds can be tedious- yet necessary. I realise i havent given a full SEO review here and have just briefly touched on it -but then im on a path where im still learning ‘the trade’. Im not going to be a zen master of the art after only six weeks, no-one is, but i can gradually see my skills increasing slowly and find myself getting much quicker with what i now know.
